Adventure Life – embark on a journey of change

Adventure and the great outdoors go hand in hand when it comes to helping people connect, reflect on their lives and explore change.

Adventure activities such as camping can be a great setting for conversation and community. Getting out into nature and bushwalking, kayaking, rock climbing and mountain biking creates opportunities for young people to take responsibility, discover strengths and learn new ways of being. It also helps clients to experience the rush of achievement, overcome perceived limits and connect their relapse prevention strategies to practical experiences.

‘Adventure Life’ at Tumbelin Farm provides opportunities for:

  • resilience,
  • safe risk-taking,
  • improved self-esteem,
  • problem-solving,
  • constructive coping strategies,
  • and a sense of competence and achievement through adventure-based experiential learning activities in outdoor settings.

Through peer support and mentoring, our compassionate Adventure Therapy staff connect with individuals to support them to build strategies to move forward in their lives.

The program focuses on relationships and changing behaviours through:

  • Group-Based Experiential Learning
  • Restorative Practice
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Person-Centred Approach
  • Reflective Practice.
